Here’s a great tasting berry smoothie for all of you who over-indulged this winter during the festivities. This smoothie is a great way to start your day as a breakfast treat. It’s quick, easy and full of extraordinarily great stuff to help you flush out all those toxins.

Berries are your friend this January. We’ve a few more months of winter to endure and even if you didn’t over indulge over Christmas you still need as many antioxidants as possible to help fight off the winter sniffles.

All the berries in this smoothie contain antioxidants but the blue berries are particularly packed full of them. The baby spinach in this smoothie also contains flavonoids and carotenoids both of which have been shown to display anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer benefits.

This smoothie also benefits from some really healthy fats in the form of omega-3 essential fatty acids from the milled flax seed and lauric acid contained in the coconut milk. Your body is able to convert the lauric acid into monolaurin. This is a highly beneficial compound that acts as an antiviral and antibacterial destroying a wide variety of disease causing nasties.

So there you have it – a breakfast smoothie quick, easy and packed full of goodness.
