Wrinkle reduction post-treatment

Now your first session is complete you’ll want to ensure you get the very best results and, to some extent, that’s up to you!  These are a few suggestions that will make a significant difference to both short and longer term outcomes.  Please take the time to read and follow the advice here.

Important information

It takes time for the effects to be visible as existing lines gradually fade, so don’t worry if you don’t see immediate change.  You’ll start to notice a difference in a few days and the full effects should be visible after a two weeks.  The idea is for the transformation to be gradual so people simply see you looking amazing, unaware that you’ve had a treatment!

You may experience swelling, bruising, redness, itching or discolouration at the injection site for a short while after treatment.  Most minor problems will resolve themselves within a few hours.  Bruising can last for up to two weeks and will disappear naturally.  However, if you are worried that something is not right please do call us.

Do not

  • Rub the area to ensure you don’t get any infection at the injection site
  • Drink alcohol for 24 hours after treatment
  • Take vigorous exercise for at least 24 hours
  • Lie down flat, sleep or bend forwards for the 4 hours after treatment
  • Have steam, sauna or facial treatments (facials, chemical peels or microdermabrasion) for two days after your injections
  • Take any blood thinning medication

It's ok to

  • Apply concealers to cover bruises
  • Take pain killers if you need to

Improve your results

Use a sunscreen frequently, ideally with a SPF of 30 or higher.  Wear a hat outdoors to protect your face.

Call your doctor and ask if they have a pulse dye laser as this can help to speed up the healing time if a bruise has appeared.

Book repeat sessions every 3-4 months; over time you may find the effects last longer.

Useful information

If you have any problems please ring the clinic immediately. If you are experiencing uncomfortable side-effects and it’s outside normal hours call the NHS help line on 111.
