Will virtual clinical consultation become the new norm?

The world has changed. In just a few weeks since the start of the lock-down, we’ve all had to make changes. Changes to the way we work, our social lives and even in the way we do the simplest of things like shopping for groceries. Fortunately, not all of these changes are necessarily bad. For example, there has been a forced revolution in the way general practice now operates and is now conducting routine consultations. It will be interesting to observe how these changes using video technologies change the way general practice continues to operate after the lock-down. The benefit to you is that these changes mean you can still access the private clinicians operating at the clinic through Brigstock Skin and Laser for your dermatology conditions using these new video techniques.

Although the technology for conducting video consultation has been available for a number of years now, most patients have been reluctant to embrace this technology for traditional GP consultations. Now that GP practices have been forced to employ the technology as a result of social distancing many practices are finding it very effective for managing their clinics. When conducting a virtual consultation, practices often find that the number of patients who fail to attend an appointment is lower, consultations are quicker and their clinics can be more flexible and so can be adapted to better accommodate the patients’ requirements. Patients are also appreciating the convenience of virtual consultations. There is no waiting to be seen in a GP reception room and no need to take time off work to attend an appointment.
Given what the Brigstock Skin and Laser clinical team have learnt over the past few weeks we felt strongly that the benefits of virtual consultations could be passed on to you, our Brigstock Skin and Laser clients. The team have already been providing virtual consultations since the beginning of the lock-down for aesthetic products. In the same way, the clinic doctors are now offering clinical dermatology consultations using the same virtual technology. So, if you do have a dermatological condition or know of someone with a condition that requires the specialist knowledge of a clinician with a specialist interest in dermatology please call the centre on 020 8683 6730 to book your private virtual consultation.
Hopefully, the lock-down will end sooner rather than later, but if you have something urgent which cannot wait, rest assured that there are clinicians you can access through Brigstock Skin and Laser. As always if you have questions about this service please feel free to contact a member of the team for more details.
