Savoury Fruit Salad

Preparation time: 15 minutes


2 apples finely sliced
1 cucumber finely sliced
1 red onion finely sliced
1 handful of raisins

1 tbs of horseradish sauce
Juice of a one freshly squeezed lemon
50 ml of good quality virgin olive oil
6 sprigs of finely chopped dill

This is a delicious savoury salad made entirely from fruit… and an onion. We don’t often think of cucumber as a fruit, but a fruit it is. There’s quite a bit of chopping involved with this dish so either use a food processor that can do the chopping for you or a vegetable slicer.

The other main ingredient of this dish is fresh dill. Dill has been found to contain monoterpene which has been shown to activate the enzyme glutathione-S-transferase. This basically significantly reduces the damaging effect of oxidation which is important if we want to reduce the signs of ageing.


  1. Toss together the sliced fruits and onion.
  2. Mix the dressing. Drizzle over your salad and serve immediately.
