We call our Soprano lasers the Rolls Royce of laser machines. But how do they work and what is the benefit of having a laser treatment with Soprano over other laser machines?
All laser machines use light to destroy hair follicles. However the Soprano machines have several features that mean they are more comfortable and super-effective.
What wavelengths does Soprano use?
Soprano laser machines use the 3 most effective wavelengths for hair removal, each targeting different structures and different tissue depths within the hair follicle. These are emitted at the same time through a single applicator hand-piece and together they provide a combination of different advantages:
- ALEX 755NM (works well with fine and light hair)
- YAG 1064NM (the most penetrative wavelength which targets deep hair follicles, good for darker skin types)
- SPEED 810NM (useful for both coarse and fine hair in all skin types)
This combination means Soprano is suitable for the widest variety of skin types, hair types and hair densities.
How does Soprano actually work?
The machine emits around 150 laser beams using the three wavelengths, so it simultaneously targets different tissue depths within the hair follicle, increasing treatment efficiency.
Soprano laser machines feature ‘SHR’. This is an in-motion™ technology that ensures full coverage of the treatment area. Moving the applicator repeatedly over the treatment area rather like a paintbrush, SHR gradually heats the dermis to a temperature that damages the hair follicles whilst not damaging the surrounding tissue. It does this through a high repetition rate of short pulses of light, which creates a gradual build up of heat.
This, together with Soprano’s ICE technology means that treatments are virtually pain-free.
NB a gel will be applied to your skin for any Soprano treatment.
What is ICE?
Soprano’s ICE cooling technology which prevents any superficial burns during treatment. In simple terms, the part of the device that comes in contact with the skin is ice cold, to keep the skin’s surface comfortable while it targets the follicles with heat.
What’s the difference between Soprano Titanium and Soprano Platinum?
Soprano Titanium: this comes with an extra-large spot size (the QuattroTM which is 4cm) which covers a larger area and can shorten treatment time. It still uses the same integration of three wavelengths but because the area of light is bigger, larger areas of hair, such as on the legs, can be treated more quickly.
Soprano Titanium’s cooling system has been upgraded from ICE to ICE Plus which combines TEC and Inverter cooling technologies to provide an additional element of cooling and comfort during a treatment.
Soprano Platinum: the Platinum is the same as Titanium as it uses the same three most effective laser wavelengths. However, it doesn’t have the large spot size head. So it is as efficient for smaller areas of hair removal, such as the face and upper lip. It can also be used for larger areas, but the treatment time will be longer.
The Platinum uses the original ICE cooling technology which still provides an extremely cool and comfortable experience.
Which should I choose?
- For larger areas, Soprano Titanium will provide a quicker treatment.
- For smaller areas, either machine will work equally well and provide similar levels of comfort.
How effective will it be?
Both Soprano Titanium and Soprano Platinum will permanently remove your unwanted hair and leave your skin beautifully smooth. But as with any laser hair removal, it is the skill and experience of the technician that ultimately ensures you will receive the most effective treatment.
