IPL Hair removal

IPL works in the same way as Laser hair removal treatments and is just as effective. Although not quite as comfortable as our laser treatments no cooling gel is required which some clients prefer.
Our IPL hair removal techniques give you that fresh out of the shower feeling ensuring your skin feels silky smooth permanently. Brigstock Skin and Laser Centres offer you the choice between Intense Pulsed Light IPL or Laser treatment for the removal of unwanted hair.Your IPL treatment can be as effective as Laser treatments and although not as comfortable, is a quicker option with your treatment times typically taking half that of the laser. How does IPL work?
Intense Pulse Light IPL treatment works in a similar way to Laser hair removal. Light energy in the form of an intense pulse of light is applied to the area of the skin to be treated. This light reacts with the hair follicles in the skin that contains melanin. Melanin is the substance that gives our hair and skin its colour. This light energy is converted into heat which destroys the follicle preventing the hair from growing back. The hair treated normally falls out within a week or two resulting in permanent hair reduction. The advancement in modern machines has been their ability to heat only the hair follicles and not the skin. This is clearly more difficult in darker skin which contains higher concentrations of melanin. Fortunately all our machines are extremely modern and are specially selected for their suitability for all skin types.
