Breakfast protein & recovery blast

Ingredients

300mls coconut milk
handful of organic blackberries
1 large organic free range egg
1 small handful of organic raisins
a pinch of sea salt
1/2 tsp of vanilla powder

This is a really quick and easy hot drink that as well as being a great post exercise recovery drink is also a great breakfast start to the day. Following prolong exercise it’s important to replace the glycogen stores in your muscles and provide your body with protein to rebuild the muscle depleted during exercise. Replacing these nutrients reduces post exercise muscle stiffness. Many commercial protein drinks contain poor quality protein, like soya protein, which is high in Omega 6 fatty acids and isn’t easily absorbed by your body. This drink contains a high quality animal protein in the form of the egg. It also contains electrolytes from the fruit and sea salt, which also need to be replaced following exercise. Raisins are also a fantastic way to lower your body’s post exercise raised levels of acidity and also provide you with unprocessed sugars your body can easily convert into glycogen. Easy quick and packed full of great stuff for a recovery. Give it a blast.

Recipe

  1. Throw all your ingredients into your Nutribullet and give it a blast until smooth.
  2. Poor your mixture into a small pan and heat right through for a minute or two. Be careful not to boil the contents.
  3. Return the mixture to your Nutribullet for one more blast and that’s it. Enjoy.
